How the estimates work

In the kitchen

How to make it.

  1. Heat the oven to 180°C, or 160°C fan. Line a small baking dish. Core the pears, chop most into small pieces and keep a few slices for the top.
  2. Mash banana and mix with soya drink, peanut butter and syrup until mostly smooth.
  3. Stir in oats, flour and ginger, then fold in chopped pear and most of the chopped chocolate.
  4. Spoon into the dish. Add pear slices and the remaining chocolate, pressing them lightly into the top.
  5. Bake for about 30 minutes until set through the centre. Rest for five minutes and divide into 4 portions.

Fit it around your training.

Why this combination?

Oats and fruit contribute carbohydrate, while the soya drink and peanut butter add some protein. Ginger and chocolate give it a warming, pudding-like finish.

When it could work for you

Breakfast after an early run, or a sweet snack. Add another meal component if a single square leaves you hungry after longer training.

Plan food before, during & after your run

Storage & leftovers.

Cool promptly in shallow containers and refrigerate within one to two hours. Eat within 48 hours or freeze. Reheat once until steaming hot throughout.
