My story
I am Charlotte, the person behind The Runner's Journal. I created the site because people deserve to understand their training, not just be handed another generic plan.
Running is part of my own week. I have completed half marathons and I am now preparing for the London and Manchester Marathons in 2027. That experience has taught me that progress rarely comes from doing more at any cost. It comes from consistent work, sensible progression and a plan you can actually follow.
I am a Level 2 qualified Gym Instructor, with my Level 3 Personal Training qualification currently in its final quality assurance stage. I also hold an NCFE Level 2 qualification in Nutrition and Health. My approach brings together evidence-led training, clear explanations and realistic support, whether your goal is to run stronger, feel more capable in the gym or rebuild a routine that lasts.
How I can help
Your training should reflect your experience, schedule, goals and current capacity. We start there, then build a sensible way forward.
Strength work that supports your running, fits around key sessions and progresses at a level you can recover from.
Learn how to use the gym with purpose, understand your exercises and progress without feeling lost or overwhelmed.
Build a realistic routine around work, recovery and the rest of your life, with clear reasoning behind each decision.
The approach
Your goals, training history, schedule, preferences and current confidence shape the starting point.
Your sessions need to fit the week you actually have, not an ideal week that never happens.
You will understand what you are doing, what it is for and how it connects to your goal.
Training changes as your capacity, confidence and circumstances change.
Start a conversation
Share a little about your goal and the support you are looking for. I will reply with the next steps and whether I am the right fit.
