What do these nutrients do?In the kitchen
How to make it.
- Stir the oats, milk and yoghurt in a lidded bowl or jar. Add a splash of water if you prefer looser oats.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least four hours or overnight.
- Slice the peeled banana. Stir half through the oats and add the rest on top.
- Swirl in the peanut butter just before serving. Add more milk or water to loosen, if needed.
Fit it around your training.
Why this combination?
Oats and banana provide carbohydrate; milk and yoghurt add protein and calcium. Peanut butter adds flavour and energy when appetite or time is limited.
When it could work for you
A breakfast after an early run, or before training when you have enough digestion time. The oats and peanut butter may feel too filling immediately before running.
