Your watch score dropped.
What would you check first?

One useful question, an explanation you can use and something to take into your week. This is an example of the kind of email we share.

The question

You are still running, but your watch’s VO₂ max estimate has fallen. Does that mean your training has stopped working?

The useful distinction

Your watch estimates fitness from recorded data. The conditions, the recording and the relationship between pace and heart rate can change. Put the estimate beside your recent running and how you feel.

Something to try

Compare a few familiar runs. Note the route, weather, effort and recording quality before deciding whether you need to change your training.

Keep the watch checklist

Why your VO₂ max estimate can fall

General running information, not medical advice. A watch reading cannot diagnose the reason for symptoms or a health change.
