A harbourside and city-centre 10K. The waterfront is part of the appeal, but the turns and shared event-day crowds are what you need to think about while running.

02 Choose your approach
Find your race strategy.
Choose your goal. These are our pacing suggestions, based on the published course, rather than organiser instructions.
My first finish
Start calmly on the route allocated to the 10K.
Use the waterfront as a chance to settle your breathing and keep your line.
Build the finish from the marked distance remaining, not the first sight of the harbour.
A PB or time goal
Allow the field to thin instead of forcing early overtakes.
Keep the effort consistent through central turns and let pace recover naturally.
Push only when the final approach gives you a safe, clear line.
If the weather or your pace changes
Bristol's waterside sections can feel different from sheltered streets, so let effort guide you if the wind changes. In warmer weather, revise the opening target before you start and use the drinking approach you have practised. If it is wet, be careful on turns and avoid chasing gaps at the edge of the road. Keep a dry layer ready for the finish. A slower split in an exposed or crowded section does not require an immediate, expensive response.
03 Know what is on the course
Drinks, fuel & toilets.
Station positions and products are not yet confirmed in the available information for this edition. Use the organiser’s final runner guide before deciding what you can collect on the course.
Toilet locations: a confirmed location list is not available here. Check the official course or runner map before race day; a drinks table does not automatically mean there is a toilet beside it.
Know your stops
Find the start-area toilets before joining your wave. If you use an on-course station, look ahead, move predictably and leave room for other runners before slowing. Check whether the drink is in cups or bottles so it feels familiar.
04 Before the start
Your race morning.
Times are local to the event. Work back from your own wave, allowing for the walk, toilets and bag drop.
Race number
Race numbers
Race numbers include timing chips and are posted from around four weeks before the run. Late and overseas entrants collect from an event information point.

05 Make the day work together
Supporters & getting around.
Plan your support
Choose a harbourside or central viewing base from the final 10K map. The half marathon's Portway out-and-back is a different course; do not use it to plan a 10K sighting.
The places below are viewing ideas from the linked route or spectator guide. Use your edition’s access map for barriers, permitted crossings and any crew restrictions.
Harbourside streets
Choose a public viewing spot on your distance’s final map. The longer Portway section belongs to the half marathon.
Central finish surroundings
Keep a meeting point outside the finish chute. Check the current route direction before planning multiple sightings.
