The route starts by Parkinson Steps, visits Headingley and Meanwood Road, then finishes on The Headrow. Start, event village and finish are three places to understand before race morning.

02 Choose your approach
Find your race strategy.
Choose your goal. These are our pacing suggestions, based on the published course, rather than organiser instructions.
My first finish
Start with a manageable effort.
Use Headingley and the Meanwood Road return as landmarks.
Build the finish as you head towards The Headrow.
A PB or time goal
Protect your effort through the early turns and changes in gradient.
Use full kilometre splits to judge the target.
Save your final increase for the return past the arena towards The Headrow.
If the weather or your pace changes
If it is warmer, windier or wetter than your training, adjust your target before the start. Let the conditions guide your effort, clothing and preparation. Use the organiser’s weather and safety advice, and stop for concerning symptoms.
03 Know what is on the course
Drinks, fuel & toilets.
- Water
- On-course stations provide 330 ml bottles; locations are shown on the route map.
- Medical support
- Fixed on-course first aid and start/finish-area medical support are advertised.
Toilet locations: a confirmed location list is not available here. Check the official course or runner map before race day; a drinks table does not automatically mean there is a toilet beside it.
Know your stops
Find the start-area toilets before joining your wave. If you use an on-course station, look ahead, move predictably and leave room for other runners before slowing. Check whether the drink is in cups or bottles so it feels familiar.
04 Before the start
Your race morning.
Times are local to the event. Work back from your own wave, allowing for the walk, toilets and bag drop.

05 Make the day work together
Supporters & getting around.
Plan your support
A Headrow/Millennium Square base makes finishing and bag collection simpler. If watching at Parkinson Steps, allow for the separate walk to the finish rather than expecting one start/finish spot.
The places below are viewing ideas from the linked route or spectator guide. Use your edition’s access map for barriers, permitted crossings and any crew restrictions.
Headingley route section
A street-viewing idea on the 10K’s northern section; use the current course and closure map.
The Headrow surroundings
A late cheer and city-centre reunion base, outside the finish chute.

Official spectator or route informationMake the cheer easy to find
Agree a named point, the side of the road and your likely arrival window. Share your bib number for official tracking. Pick a separate reunion beyond the finish exit and a backup if the phone signal is poor.
