2027 Richmond Park Half Marathon August

Explore the course, understand your entry options and get ready for race day.

Four laps of rolling parkland on trail paths, pavement and grass, based by Sheen Gate. Repeated laps make it easy to learn the hills and for supporters to see you more than once.

01 Know what you are taking on

What is the race like?

  • Rolling / undulating
  • Trail / mixed surface
Official maps & course details
Laps and climbing
Four laps; the listed route profile shows 187 metres of elevation gain.

02 Choose your approach

Find your race strategy.

Choose your goal. These are our pacing suggestions, based on the published course, rather than organiser instructions.

My first finish
  1. Start the first lap conservatively and learn the footing.

  2. Use the repeat village passes to manage your stops without rushing.

  3. Aim to keep the effort controlled across all four laps rather than winning the first one.

A PB or time goal
  1. Set a target for this rolling, mixed-surface course rather than using a flat-road PB unchanged.

  2. Keep uphill effort even and let the descents bring your rhythm back gradually.

  3. Build effort on the final lap only if you have kept enough control on the first three.

03 Know what is on the course

Drinks, fuel & toilets.

Water and sweets
At 2.5, 7.5, 12.5 and 17.5 km.
Toilets
In the event village, passed on each lap.

Turn the station list into your plan

Mark the stops you expect to use and the fuel you will carry. If you use a gel that needs water, pair it with a published water point. Practise the products and cup or bottle format before race day; you do not have to try every item offered.

04 Before the start

Your race morning.

Times are local to the event. Work back from your own wave, allowing for the walk, toilets and bag drop.

  1. Before your wave

    Arrival

Use Sheen Gate. The organiser estimates a 20-minute walk from Mortlake station.

  2. The start

    Start time

    09:30.

Start & finish access
Longer finish times
Contact the organiser if you expect to take over three hours; special arrangements may be needed.

Your allocated wave, event emails and final runner instructions take priority. Read the guide for your distance before travelling.

05 Make the day work together

Supporters & getting around.

Plan your support

Stay at the event village by Sheen Gate to see each lap. The nearby café at Roehampton Gate is not on the course, so do not use it as an automatic cheering point.

The places below are viewing ideas from the linked route or spectator guide. Use your edition’s access map for barriers, permitted crossings and any crew restrictions.

Make the cheer easy to find

Agree a named point, the side of the road and your likely arrival window. Share your bib number for official tracking. Pick a separate reunion beyond the finish exit and a backup if the phone signal is poor.

07 Make your training relevant

Practise for this course.

One thing to rehearse

Practise a short rolling loop two or three times at a comfortable effort. Notice whether your pace changes because of the hills or because the effort is drifting up.
